Dance Bridge Activities and Deadlines for 2008:

APRIL 4 - 30
“America’s Irreplaceable Dance Treasures: The First 100,” a national dance touring exhibit from the Dance Heritage Coalition in Washington, D.C. will be on exhibit in the Boulder Public Library Canyon Gallery, 1000 Canyon Blvd., Boulder.
  Photographs, posters, video clips and memorabilia Opening reception is scheduled for Friday, April 4 from 5 – 7 p.m. and is open to the public.  This national exhibit, plus a local component on dance in Boulder County from mid-1800 to 2000, a “Boulder Dance Sampler,”  will be open during regular library hours through April 30.  For more information visit  www.boulderdancebridge.org .

 JUNE 10 – 14
National Performing Arts Convention in June 2008
The 2nd National Performing Arts Convention "Taking Action Together" is coming June 10-14 to the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.
  Mark your calendars now and check www.performingartsconvention.org for regular updates, registration and information on the many pertinent sessions for Colorado dancers to attend as well as opportunities for involvement.  DanceUSA and other national and regional performing arts groups will be in attendance affirming their shared values, communicating the importance of the performing arts to national life, and identifying ways for artists and arts leaders to more effectively bring the value of the arts to more people. 
 
Steve Seifert, Executive Director of the Newman Center for the Performing Arts on the DU campus, is co-chairman of the local steering committee. As a member of DanceUSA, the Dance Bridge will be in attendance and is working on the host committee.  Two dance showcases are scheduled during the convention, each with a number of local Colorado dance companies and national dance artists on the same bill.

Two exciting dance showcases with 10 minute performances by acclaimed dance companies from across the nation and Colorado in celebration of the National Performing Arts Convention.(Colorado companies are highlighted below in orange!)

SEPTEMBER 5
Application Deadline for participation in Annual “Dance is for Every Body!” Showcase Applications will be available starting July 15 and are due September 5.
  Open to all dance artists, teachers, companies, individuals, studios and schools.  5 – 15 minute presentations, lecture demonstrations, audience participation activities or mini-classes, work-in-progress and finished dances.  Possible opportunity for more than one time slot available on the same day or each day (but not back to back).  More specific information will be provided on the application.  Sponsored by the Dance Bridge and the Boulder Public Library.

NOVEMBER 8 & 9
“Dance is for Every Body!” Annual Showcase, Boulder Public Library Canyon Theater, 1000 Canyon Blvd., Boulder.
  All day continuous dance showcase, free to the public.  A wonderful outreach opportunity for dance artists, teachers, companies, individuals, studios and schools to reach new audiences.  5 – 15 minute presentations, lecture demonstrations, audience participation activities, showing of work-in-progress and finished dances, plus a resource table with information on classes and upcoming seasons.  Check this Web page for more information.
